Welcome to the Dallas Education Foundation!
The Dallas Education Foundation (DEF) is a community-based foundation created to enhance and supplement the educational opportunities and needs of students and staff in the Dallas School District. In 2002, the Dallas Education Fund (DEF) began with an anonymous donation. Over the years, the foundation has received donations and grants from local businesses, community members, school district employees, school district retirees, and local community groups. In 2007, the Dragon Run was organized and the Dallas Education Foundation was designated as its sole beneficiary. In 2012, after receiving non-profit 501c3 status from the IRS, the Dallas Education Foundation was established. Our board is comprised of community members who volunteer their time and who are dedicated to the education of Dallas and its students.
2024 Karma Coffee Fundraiser
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and Karma Coffee, the Karma fundraiser was a smashing success. Over $6000 was raised! These dollars will purchase things like books, calculators, musical instruments, and other tangible supplies that often come out of the pockets of educators themselves when needs fall outside of normal funding times or when unexpected shortages occur. Does your employer make you buy supplies for the company in your job? We don’t think teachers should have to do that either.
Thank you Dallas Community Foundation!
We are excited to announce that we received a significant grant from the Dallas Community Foundation. This grant will allow us to fund our Teacher Grants for the 2022-2023 school year. This will help us to partner with DSD to improve the educational opportunities for the youth of our community.
Since 1995, the Dallas Community Foundation has helped donors put their charitable dollars into their own community, giving a hand up to those in need and improving the quality of life in Dallas. Through the generosity of donors, the Foundation has given back more than $1 million in grants for scholarships.
